Those daring young men and their flying machines

Actually, it was pretty cool to watch the guys take off. G.L. even got to make a couple of turns over the mountains. Matt told him that he was a natural. Just what I needed, please don't encourage him! Good thing we just got on new life insurance!

Matt, good lookin, single 37 year old pilot and G.L. good lookin, not single 50 year old wannabe pilot. I was told the next time around it would be my turn. After a few daredevil stunts over the airport, I'm not quite sure what I think about that! G.L. said it was better than a roller coaster.

G.L. and Matt waiting for the call to go up.
Today was kind of a neat experience for the new Heber Airport Manager. He was invited to ride shotgun in an old WWII P17 military trainer plane. The first time up, he got to see quite a bit of Heber Valley. The second time up, Matt and G.L. did a tribute low elevation flyby and a couple of nifty turns for a WWII pilot who had passed away. It was a nice gathering/memorial service held right outside of Hangar I where G.L.s office is located. Deb stayed busy driving the little golf caddy around and taking pictures of the cool airplanes.

Malad Weekend!

Auds donning a Sunflower that I picked in the yard!

No matter how sore and tired he is, there is always time for "pickin" & "grinnin".

This little knome has ridden in my grocery cart at the local market about three times over the past few months. Finally this week, he was sitting in a grocery cart outside of the market with a reduced price sticker on his butt. I could not resist. He will be making his way to live in a little gal's backyard who lives in Oklahoma, loves to garden and who's name begins with T! C'mon guys you know how knomes love to travel!

Side view of the finished chimney work. Its a bit lighter due to mortar dust.

Hi everyone,

Do you think that this blog will serve as a journal, because I am not a good record keeper and I hate writing in journals. This is much funner and much quicker.

G.L. and I, along with Auds took a trip to Malad to finish the rock on the uppermost part of our chimney. What fun that was. Auds and I took turns holding the ladder while the other moron climbed to the top of it to feed G.L. buckets of mortar, water, rocks and various other items. G.L. did the splits on the peak while he proceeded to slap mortar and cultured river rock to the top of the chimney. We all hurt in places that we never knew our bodies had. Here are a few pics of our finished work up above and a couple of extras of our fun weekend. Miss you all, and wish you could have been there. No.....really......much better you than us.

The little Johnson Family is safe and sound back in their cute little house in Edmond, Oklahoma. The crazy buggers drove the trip in one day. We had a bunch of fun while they were here and look forward to their next visit. We long for Curt, Tish and the kids to come out and make a visit as well.

Life is back to normal here in Heber. The weather is cooling off a bit in the evenings. Just a hint of things to come. Work keeps us very busy. Now that Gary is full-time manager at the airport, we are looking to purchase a little home here in Heber. Prices are outrageous, but with the economy as it is, we may be able to find something we can afford. Stay tuned for more news about two fifty year old farts who are trying to make it to retirement!
