This past Thursday, a group from work took a trip down to Redmond Utah to visit the mine. Activities included a dynamite shoot. Don't get confused like I did. I thought that they would be blasting salt in the mine. What it really meant was aiming at a stick of dynamite and shooting a gun. Not that I am bragging or anything but, I did hit the dynamite at 100 yards (football field length) on my very first shot. I have to say, it was a real BLAST!
It was also really neat to actually travel down (lowest point 260 feet) into the Redmond Salt mine. It was something to behold. I grabbed chunks of pure, unprocessed salt to take to the grandkids in Oklahoma. Many do not realize how important "good" salt is our diet. I truly love my job.
Kris Hummer (girl next to me in the bottom picture) has become a good friend. We spent the entire day seeing how the mine works, the Redmond Farm and stopping for ice cream on the way back to Heber. Fantastic Field Trip for an old lady like me. Good Times!

Well, it would have been more awesome if they would have let you blow up dynamite, but I guess shooting it is fun, too!
