Redmond RealSalt Retreat

This was our first trip to Lake Powell. As you can see, the scenery is quite breath taking. The water was warm and clear and the rock formations were like something on Mars! Our 4 day retreat included a scarey cliff climb to some BC indian ruins, cruisin around on jet skis, inflatable cayaking, early morning fishing, mixin and mingling, great food and a couple of work meetings squeezed in each day.

Below is a picture of a place called Hole in the Rock. The Mormon Pioneers had to rig up a way to lower all of their wagons, oxen and each other safely down this crevace. Somehow they managed to do it without loosing any of their wagons, animals or people. At that time, there was no water below. Wow!

These are "amphitheaters" carved out by nature. We all jumped ship and swam underneath several of them. The acoustics were fantastic, but word has it that not too long ago some of the sandstone broke loose and sunk a boat that was floating below. Luckily, all of the passengers were out of the boat swimming. Sometimes nature can be very cruel!
This is me "Deb" sitting at the captains seat on the top deck of our houseboat. These boats are beautiful and fully equipped with anything that you can imagine. Absolutely a home away from home.

Leave it to my music man to find another fellow musician to play with. Everyone on board enjoyed the music and looked forward to the entertainment at dinner time.

Here is a picture that I took early in the morning. Every day at 5:30 a.m. we hopped onto the "fishing" boat and headed out in search of the big one. Unfortunately, the fish were not hungry very often. Watching the sun come up over these beautiful formations was well worth getting up for however.

Two early morning fishermen.

This is picture of one of the four houseboats that were achored side by side along a lovely beach. Every evening, each house boat had a different activity going on. We spent many of our evenings walking the shore line. All in all it was a wonderful experience that we will not soon forget!

I'm checking up on you guys. We haven't heard much since the bbq at Cascade Springs. Glad you're doing well. I'm jealous of the Lake Powell trip, and especially that everyone got to hear some tunes from your hubby. We need to do another bbq and make him play for us. Of course, we'd all want to sing along, which would probably be very painful for you musical people who actually have talent. ;)

Two things I know will accompany you and Dad on every trip: your backpack of goodies and dad's instruments. The other day something broke in the back yard, I can't remember what it was, and Kolby said, "What, you don't carry wood glue in your backpack?" My purse only has room for a wallet, a diaper, and lip gloss. I'm glad you had so much fun on your trip. Just a little disappointed that you guys didn't get to do the "trust fall" into each others arms!
